Desert Prayer Garden Progress

July 13, 2010

Progress continues on the South Hills Church Community Desert Prayer Garden.

With the help of the Men’s Ministry and other church members, the irrigation drip system is installed, the path is constructed and the planting is almost complete.

Please join us for our next work day Saturday, July 17, 6-8:30am (trying to beat the heat).

Desert Prayer Garden Project Begins

June 28, 2010

Work has begun on the South Hills Church Community Desert Prayer Garden.

The South Hills Church Community desert prayer garden will be a place where people can come to pray, read the bible, take a walk, relax and enjoy God’s creation.

There will be benches throughout the garden as well as a covered pergola with picnic tables that will provide a group gathering area for bible studies and fellowship.  Signage with plant names will allow people to learn about the variety of plants God has made that can grow in our Mojave desert.

Everything planted will require low water usage and many will be native to the area.  Visitors from outside the church will find our garden unique in that they will read God’s Word here displayed on scripture signage.

We will recreate the prayer rock pile that was made by all of us that came to pray on the land before the church building was constructed.

We hope the garden will inspire worship of our amazing creator as we watch desert flowers bloom and birds and other small critters enjoy the habitat we create for them.  We pray that the desert prayer garden will be a blessing to the church and community and most of all, please God and bring Him glory.

Track the progress of the desert prayer garden here on our website.  Photos will be added to show how the garden progresses.

We hope to have the garden completed in the fall.

Check the upcoming events section to see when you can come out to help on our next work day.
